Journeyman Lineman
The
The Utilities Board of the City of Andalusia is accepting applications for the position of Journeyman Lineman in the Electric Department.This position involves skilled technical work on and around high voltage power lines. The employee will construct new power lines, perform hot line glove work, and troubleshoots problems with all aspects of distribution electric utility operations, including voltage regulators, capacitors and multiphase metering. The employee should have the required skills to work during normal hours and after normal work hours, without direct supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from a standard senior high school and the completion of line worker apprenticeship training.

Significant experience in difficult and responsible work of a journeyman level in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical systems and related equipment.

Significant experience and training in the handling of high voltage wires are essential qualifications for this position; (i.e. -experience in Line Worker I and II classification).

Trained and at least 2 years’ experience in fiber optic cable installation.

Trained and at least 3 years’ experience applying NESC code to work situations.

At least 5 to 6 years’ experience in hot line work.

Trained in high voltage line switching procedures.

Certification or equivalent experience needed to repair three phase power banks and multi-phase metering.

Must possess a valid Class A, CDL driver’s license.
Must be able to successfully pass any mandatory pre-employment tests required for this position, which may include back-ground check, drug and alcohol testing and physical.
