the Drug Task Force website at www.methreality.com Covington County Drug Task Force is a multi-agency task force formed in September, 2000, for the purpose of eradicating the use, sale and transportation of illegal drugs in Covington County. The task force is funded through a grant program administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).

The task force is comprised of five experienced investigators representing the Andalusia Police Department, the Covington County Sheriff’s Department, and the Opp Police Department. There is a full-time Drug Prosecutor furnished by the District Attorney’s Office who is responsible for the prosecution of all drug related cases occurring in Covington County.

In 2002 the Andalusia Police Department along with the DTF applied for a special grant from the Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Service to aid in the fight against clandestine methamphetamine labs. Thanks to this grant, The Meth Reality Web site was created as part of their drug-free initiative to battle the growing epidemic of Meth use in the area. Click the image to view the site.
