Landfill/Recycling Equipment Operator III

The City of Andalusia is accepting applications for the position of Landfill/Recycling Equipment Operator III.  Under the direction of the Landfill Operations Coordinator, this employee performs skilled work in the operation of heavy equipment in the performance of a variety of jobs for Recycling/Landfill.  Employees in this position are usually responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a few pieces of heavy equipment as applied to moderately complex recycling activities.  Work may involve the occasional supervision of other employees.  Employees receive specific and in some cases detailed instructions from supervisor as to recycling assignments involving equipment operations.  Work is performed according to established procedures with inspections during process and final inspection of work completed. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Any combination of training and/or experience equivalent to:

• Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent.
• Considerable experience in the operation of the equipment to which assigned in landfill and recycling activities.
• Possession of a valid "Class B" Commercial Driver's License issued by the ALabama Department of Public Safety; May be required to possess "Class A" CDL.

ANNUAL ENTRY SALARY RANGE:  Based on experience.
