WATER/SEWER CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE WORKER II

The Utilities Board of the City of Andalusia is accepting applications for one position for Water/Sewer Construction and Maintenance Worker II. Under the general direction of the Water/Sewer Construction Foreman and/or Crew Leader, the employee performs manual and semiskilled work in the installation, repair, and maintenance of the water distribution and sewer collection systems.  Responsibilities include repairing wells, flushing fire hydrants and operating hand tools in the maintenance of the water and sewer lines and roads, construction, cleaning and repair of water and sanitary sewers and the operation of water and sewer related equipment.  Work is performed in compliance with accepted standards of construction, maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines. The employee may provide direction to unskilled workers on the performance of maintenance on water and sewer lines and facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Any combination of training and/or experience equivalent to:

• Graduation from a senior high school or equivalent.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license as issued by the State of Alabama Department of Public Safety.
• Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.  
• Possess or ability to obtain a Grade 1 C Wastewater Certification within 1 year and a Grade II Operations Certification within 2 years of employment OR have a minimum of 5 years valid experience in water/sewer operations.

YEARLY ENTRY SALARY RANGE:  Based on experience and qualifications.
