Board & Committee over Zoning
The Planning Commission created on July 11, 1947. All zoning changes must originate with this commission. Once a request is made, the commission makes a ruling. If approved the request goes to the council for approval. If the commission declines the request, the petitioner may then go to the Board of Adjustments to appeal the commission's decision.
The Board of Zoning Adjustments was created November 9, 1945. This board interprets the city’s zoning ordinances. This is an autonomous board whose decisions are final. The board hears requests from citizens for zoning variances of all kinds.
