Electrical Line Worker II/Right-of-way Maintenance
The Utilities Board of the City of Andalusia is accepting applications for the position of Electrical Line Worker II/Right-of-way Maintenance in the Electric Department. Under the direction of the Asst. Electrical Operations Manager, the employee performs skilled work. Constructs new power lines, performs hot line work, changes out existing poles and hooks up house services and transformers and installs meter bases, stakes new construction lines and trouble shoots power failures. Repairs street, flood, and traffic lights and assists in maintaining department equipment and facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and/or experience equivalent to:
- Graduation from a standard high school and the completion of line worker apprenticeship training.
- Some experience in difficult and responsible work of a journeyman level in the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical systems and related equipment.
- Previous experience and training in the handling of high tension wires are essential qualifications for this position; (i.e. –experience in Line Worker I classification)
- At least 3 to 5 years experience in hot line work.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license as issued by the Alabama Department of Public Safety.
- Possession of a Commercial Driver’s License Class A.
SALARY RANGE: Based on experience
